ED FRENIERE

I take photographs mainly to please myself, but I try to evoke some emotion in the viewer as well. This may be an appreciation of beauty, finding humor in everyday things, or a sense of awe for our natural world. After using a digital camera for several years, I have returned to large format film photography, shooting with 4x5 and 8x10 cameras. I enjoy the process of both shooting with a large format camera and developing and printing negatives. Large format film photography also lets me be more involved in making the photograph, and enables the use of camera movements not available in smaller cameras.
